Kristen D. Krause, PhD, MPH is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urban-Global Public Health at the Rutgers School of Public Health and Deputy Director of the Center for Health, Identity, Behavior and Prevention Studies (CHIBPS). She also serves as the School of Public Health faculty lead for the Arts in Health Research Lab, a collaboration between Rutgers School of Public Health, Mason Gross School of the Arts, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC). Dr. Krause’s research focuses broadly on LGBTQ+ health and health disparities, with particular expertise in HIV, aging, resilience, social connection, and arts in health. Her work examines the social and structural factors that shape health and well-being across the life course and explores community-based approaches to improving health, connection, and quality of life. Her current research includes work on aging with HIV and social prescribing, including arts-based approaches that connect individuals to meaningful community resources and activities. In addition to her research and teaching, Dr. Krause serves as Deputy Editor of Behavioral Medicine and is actively involved in mentoring emerging public health researchers and advancing scholarship focused on LGBTQ+ populations and health equity.
