Ana Valdes-Herrera is a first-generation immigrant from Venezuela majoring in Public Health and minoring in Biology.

Ana is part of the FDA Student Program and the Global Health Collaborative Project. Her interests include health disparities, mental health outcomes and barriers, culturally sensitive approaches, preventative medicine, symptom management, product development, and disability rights. She has presented at national conferences and worked on publications on topics including CVD prevention in ACEs, NCDs, and traditional medicine.

Beyond research, Ana advocates for accessibility and disability rights through positions in the Legislative Branch of SGA, Special Olympics, and the research and development of digital technologies to improve mobility and access. Currently, as the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Capsule, an RSO and health humanities journal, she fosters interdisciplinary dialogue on health, social sciences, and humanities."
