Lauren B. Beach, JD/PhD (they/them) is an Assistant Professor within the Department of Medical Social Sciences in the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. They also Direct the ADVOCATE Center in Northwestern’s Impact Institute. They hold a PhD in Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology & Genetics as well as a law degree specialized in Health Law & Bioethics from the University of Minnesota. They also have completed advanced applied postdoctoral fellowship training in epidemiology, behavioral science, and clinical informatics. Scientifically, they are a mixed-methods clinical and translational researcher who leads epidemiological, interventional, and implementation studies to translate research to practice to policy to improve the health of people with HIV and LGBTQIA+ people. They partner with health systems and community organizations to co-lead clinical research studies advancing the epidemiology of HIV, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune, cancer, and kidney disease. They leverage best practices in intervention design, implementation science, and learning health systems to close health equity gaps and improve health for patients regardless of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and intersecting sociodemographic backgrounds. They are also a board member of SGMA as well as a longtime bisexual health advocate and community leader.
