Dr. Laura Reid Marks is an associate professor in the Center for Translational Behavioral Science (CTBS) in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine (BSSM) in the College of Medicine at Florida State University. Dr. Marks is the director of the Global Research On Working To Ameliorate Health Challenges (G.R.O.W.T.H.) Research Lab. Her research focuses on (a) social challenges, including microaggressions, mental health, and health behaviors, and the development of culturally tailored interventions, and (b) career and professional development issues in individuals from populations that have often been less studied.

She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in psychology and her master’s degree in counseling (CACREP-accredited) from the University of Florida. She completed her doctoral degree in the APA-accredited counseling psychology program at Purdue University. She did her pre-doctoral internship at Arizona State University Counseling Services (APA-accredited). Dr. Marks spent four years as an Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology in the APA-accredited program at the University of Memphis and five years in the APA-accredited Combined Counseling and School Psychology doctoral program at Florida State University before moving into her current position.
