Dr. Jack Barile is the Associate Dean for Research and Director of the Social Science Research Institute at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. He is also a professor in the Department of Psychology and Senior Advisor for the Health Policy Initiative. Dr. Barile earned his doctorate in community psychology from Georgia State University in 2010 and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in 2012.

Dr. Barile’s research focuses on ecological determinants of health-related quality of life, striving to improve the well-being of historically marginalized communities, including individuals experiencing homelessness, multiple chronic conditions, and severe mental illness. His work investigates how neighborhood stress and factors such as adverse childhood experiences, housing instability, and poverty contribute to health disparities. Utilizing advanced quantitative techniques and participatory approaches, Dr. Barile addresses pressing community issues and promotes health equity.
